Joining a sorority as an international student, in fact, is something no different than other students on campus. It is a same process as finding out who you are and who you want to be. The meaning of Greek life for me at Centre to mean goes beyond just understanding American culture and making more “ foreign friends”, but also personal growth and friendship. At first I decided to go Greek because I learn a lot through interaction with people and realized it might be a way to be more involved on campus. But my sisterhood means so much more than the “ meanings” I was after at first. The friendships I have had with all the women in our chapter makes me a more friendly, loving and positive person than before. The leadership skills I developed and the people I meet in this sorority and in Greek life would be my assets for a lifetime and these are the things that we could not learn in classroom. If you are an international student and think that Greek life would be a good fit for you, I would strongly encourage you to join us. I am very positive that Greek life would be an extraordinary experience based on my own journey in Alpha Delta Pi. |
