I’ve known I was queer since I was in middle school. It’s always been a part of my identity that I haven’t been shy about. I’ve also wanted, for a long time, to be in a sorority. My cousins had been in them and spoke so highly of their experiences that I knew it was one I wanted myself. Going into the fall recruitment events, like Fall Preview, I was really nervous. I didn’t want to compromise or be quiet about who I was to be in a sorority. Luckily, I found out quickly that was not the case at Centre. None of them ever made me feel like I had to hide part of who I was to be a Greek woman. I was so excited to join Alpha Delta Pi, but I had learned during recruitment that there were amazing, openly queer women in each sorority. Not only do I feel loved and supported in my sorority, but by the entire Panhellenic community! Margaret Adkins, Class of 2023 Alpha Delta Pi Mt. Juliet, TN |
